Bike routes

Do you enjoy bike excursions along beautiful paths ? Then the Arthostel is your ideal starting point. We consider ourselves a biker friendly lodge. We have locked bike storage area and we can arrange for the rental of bikes. We can give you information about local bike routes and we have all the regional bikers' maps available and eventually for sale.

International bike routes

Arthostel is located along the international bike route Noordzeeroute LF 1. This international rustic bike route runs from Den Helder ( Nl) to Boulogne-sur-mer ( Fr) or vice versa. This route traverses charming landscapes and connects many places along the coast and heather which are certainly worth seeing. If you follow this route, than is Arthostel the ideal place to stop, where you can rest and include a visit to Bruges in your schedule.

Local bike routes

The ' Noordzeeroute' or North Sea Route ' connects to may local marked and noose forming bike routes. Maps of these routes are available in the Arthostel.

De Maerlant fietsroute ( 52 km). This bike tour runs about 1 km from Arthostel. This marked route takes you trough beautiful countryside and picturesque towns of Damme and Sluis.

De Riante Polderroute ( 44 km). You can start following this route from Damme. It takes you trough lovely countryside and along the coast in Knokke- Heist. You come back to Damme along the famous Canal of Damme.

De Gentele route ( 33 km). The connection to this route takes you along the lovely canal running to Oostende . When you reach Meetkerke you can start following this tour trough charming country villages such as Houtave, Uitkerke, Zuienkerke. The route follows the centuries old Genteledijk to the popular beach resort Blankenberge.

Other possible routes to follow are the Zwinroute, Breduinaroute and the oude Dijkenroute. More information about these routes available in the Arthostel.
